Fast Follow: Documenting Israel's Strikes on Iran

In the days following Israel’s aerial assault on Iran dubbed "Operation Rising Lion", satellite imagery has played a critical role in documenting the campaign as it unfolded. From the first strikes on June 13, high-resolution imagery revealed cratering at key Iranian airbases, widespread targeting of radar and air defense systems, and the rapid establishment of Israeli air superiority across much of the country.

Imagery analysis also captured strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, ballistic missile sites and critical infrastructure. At Natanz and Isfahan, key components of Iran’s nuclear program were visibly struck. Simultaneously, attacks on oil depots and refineries near Tehran highlighted Israel's targeting of energy infrastructure central to the regime’s economic resilience.

Using satellite imagery, this report provides a window into the fast-moving developments on the ground in Iran. In a contested information space, the ability for civil society to document military operations with OSINT is crucial for transparency and objective analysis.
